What is Wafapoints?
Wafapoints is a state of the art, consumer loyalty programme designed to give its participating merchants the ability to develop programmes to attract and retain profitable customers. With no capital outlay, investment in technology or extra staff, this system gives merchants the flexibility to create their very own rewards programme while benefitting from the entire base of high income Wafapoints customers.

How much will it cost me to join the Wafapoints programme?
Joining Wafapoints as a participating merchant will not involve any up front capital investment, nor will it involve costly staff training and systems development. Wafapoints will supply the required infrastructure, point-of-sale terminals and train your staff free of charge. All that will be required of you is:
- Your commitment to the programme
- A meaningful discount to be converted to points
- Your active participation in joint promotions and special schemes
How does Wafapoints work?
A chip based Wafapoints card is instantly issued to all customers absolutely free of charge on submitting an application (all Commercialbank cardholders have been automatically issued with a card). Wafapoints utilises the merchant’s existing credit card payment machines to support both immediate transaction and redemption of rewards. After making a purchase (cash or any credit card) the customer presents the Wafapoints card. The discount agreed with you is instantly transferred to the card as Wafapoints. The customer can use the Wafapoints you have loaded to pay for the next purchase.
What is the value of a single WafaPoint?
A WafaPoint is worth QR 0.1 or 10 Wafapoints equal QR1. Simply divide the number of Wafapoints by 10 and you will arrive at the fiscal value of the Wafapoints.
How long does it take to load and redeem Wafapoints on to the member’s card during a transaction?
It’s as instant as a credit card transaction and will not affect your normal business activities.
How can I maximise my benefits from the programme?
- Give the best discounts
- Keep the programme alive with something new and different every month
- Ensure that even during sale time you give at least a small % value as Wafapoints
- Give bonuses or free gifts for regular and high value shoppers

I can’t afford to give discounts during my sales periods? What can Wafapoints do?
Wafapoints is very flexible. Advise us at least a week in advance with the small % (eg. 1%) you can afford to give away during your sale and we will change the systems accordingly. We will also advise all the Wafapoints customers of the upcoming sale at your outlet.
Are there any fees or charges on a Wafapoints transaction?
A nominal transaction fee applies on all accumulation and redemption transactions, which covers the process, system maintenance and basic report costs. If you prefer, this transaction fee can be taken from the overall discounts you offer.
What are my advertisement/promotion/awareness opportunities?
- Enroll before launch of our campaign and your outlet will be part of all the glitz and media coverage
- Participate in lucky draws and special Wafapoints promotions and benefit from the advertising mileage
- You will also get mentioned (if you are among the top 10) in subsequent brochures, booklets, applications, advertisements, press releases, etc.

What level of support will my staff receive?
Wafapoints will ensure your staff are continually trained and tested on their ability to use the system effectively. We understand the need to process all transactions professionally and efficiently to ensure the highest customer service levels are maintained.
What reward surprises can Wafapoints provide my customers?
Wafapoints can tailor your loyalty programme to provide varied bonusing levels based on customers, the frequency of their visits and the value of their purchases. Surprise your VIP customers by awarding them with free gifts or coupons which can be printed on the till receipt. To give a few examples:
- Reward them for the first visit
- Reward them for visiting you the third time during the month
- Give them a special free gift on their next visit
- Give bonus points if their single transaction exceed QR 1,000 or if their total purchases at your outlet exceed QR 5,000 in a month
How can I know if I am benefitting from the programme? What type of reports can you provide?
Wafapoints can provide a number of useful MIS reports which can be used to analyse your customer base against a number of different factors and over a number of demographic variables. For a little extra cost we can also create independent reports for you. But please remember that data confidentiality rules do not allow us to share databases or contact information of independent customers.
Who owns and operates Wafapoints?
Wafapoints is wholly owned by Commercialbank of Qatar. Wafapoints is operated and managed to the professional standards that you would expect.
Who is Wafapoints aimed at?
Wafapoints is designed to attract the affluent Qatar based consumers across a number of culturally diverse communities. By working with our merchant partners we can focus our communication efforts on ensuring we help attract the best customers to the retail outlets.
Why use Wafapoints and not just discount my prices?
By discounting your prices you are not receiving the full amount of the potential sale. This reduces your cash flow and puts the emphasis on increasing turnover to achieve the same profitability. There is no customer loyalty as the consumer is price driven. Alternatively by using a flexible loyalty programme such as Wafapoints you can secure 100% of the retail price and still give your customers a meaningful loyalty reward which will make them come back for more.
How quickly can I go live?
We can get you up and running within days rather than weeks, subject to your staff training requirements and the number of outlets that will be involved. Once our software is downloaded onto your POS terminals, our staff trainers will visit your outlets and provide on-the-job staff training to ensure they are proficient and motivated.
How many customers can I expect by joining Wafapoints?
All Commercialbank customers will soon be automatically issued with Wafapoints cards. That instantly takes the card numbers to tens of thousands plus. If you factor in all the new customers who are banking elsewhere and will join Wafapoints, it will soon be one of the most popular loyalty programmes in the GCC.
Can I reward all my customers?
Yes, you can reward all your customers whether they pay with cash or credit cards.
How easy is the reconciliation process?
We will provide daily and monthly reports online to assist you in the reconciliation process. It’s similar and as simple as credit card reconciliation and we can train your accounts staff initially.
Can I restrict accumulation and redemption of Wafapoints to my outlets?
We understand that each business requirement may vary from the other. And that’s why we have invested in state of the art infrastructure for Wafapoints that makes it a completely flexible rewards programme. For merchants who prefer accumulation and redemption of Wafapoints only between their own outlets, we offer ‘Private Purses’ on the same Wafapoints card. With this, not only can you take advantage of the entire base of cardholders immediately, but also develop an independent programme. ‘Private Purse’ is a second phase of development for us, which is done intentionally, as we would like to keep the programme simple for customers initially. We also recommend that you join the common programme, learn about its advantages and from experience create your very own programme if you wish to.
I would like to issue my own branded loyalty card and own the mechanism for earning and redeeming points? Can Wafapoints assist me?
Yes we can. If you feel this is the right approach for your brand and business, we can support you with minimum capital outlay or investments in infrastructure. However, we still recommend that you join the common programme, learn its benefits, customer behaviour and develop your own programme based on the experience. Customers would also prefer to carry only one card and maximise benefits from a common programme.
